From rebuilding the team to Formula E

A team rebuilding its activities, a prototype still under development and an opportunity to exhibit at Formula E. I initiated contact and worked with the president and the other departments to coordinate partners, resources and stand preparation.

Organizing to move forward.

Integrated tracking

  1. Products and inventory

Products organized in the tracking system.
  2. Revenue and profit

    Connected sales information.
  3. Cash flow

    Integration with financial tracking.
Overview of the tracking system I built for the team.
  • I built an Excel inventory tool that calculated remaining stock, revenue and profit and fed into cash flow tracking.

  • I moved from sales into marketing, connecting how we presented the team with our relationships with prospective partners.

  • I directly coordinated up to ten people and supported the president in rebuilding the team.

My role in detail

Within a team of about 45 members, I worked with the president and the other departments; my direct coordination focused on administrative functions. I connected sales and financial tracking through Excel formulas, lookups, validation and charts, without VBA. I developed the inventory spreadsheet without AI assistance. It brought stock, revenue, profit and cash flow into one system.

Learning to delegate

As a director, I still took on operational tasks that I could have shared with the team. That left less time for management decisions and developing people. I began paying more attention to assigning responsibilities and following up on delivery; this remains an area I am working on.

Recovering knowledge and opening doors.

  • I initiated contact with the Formula E organizers. After our visit in March 2024, I resumed the conversation in August with a proposal to exhibit.

  • The initial approach to Hankook did not lead to an agreement. Once the stand was confirmed, I returned with a proposal tied to the event and our need for tires.

Negotiating with Hankook

  1. Initial approach

  3. Formalized partnership

Hankook as the team's main sponsor

I renewed the relationship with a proposal specifically for the exhibition.
Hankook — driving emotion
Partnership context

The earlier approach had not led to a partnership. Once the exhibition was confirmed, I could present a more concrete proposal: participation in an event where Hankook was the main sponsor, along with the prototype's need for tires. I renewed the relationship and helped formalize the partnership; Hankook became the team's main sponsor.

Recovered knowledge

  1. Undocumented records

Contacts and materials unavailable to management

  2. Reusable information

Recovered contacts and a sponsorship letter as a reference

I turned undocumented records into a reference for future commercial work.
How I recovered the records

In September 2024, while investigating old accounts, I found an institutional Drive that had not been documented for management. I recovered contacts, data and materials; a historical sponsorship letter became a reference for the layout and structure of our proposals.

Preparing as a team.

With the president and the other departments; vehicle design and construction by the technical team.

The team arranged Formula 4 tires through Vicar and their collection in São Paulo; the technical team adapted the wheels and suspension.

Initial estimate4 months
Concentrated effortabout 1 month

Confirmation arrived in late October. With no prototype ready for display, the team reorganized its work for the December exhibition.

Work initially estimated at four months was concentrated into about one month.
From proposal to confirmation

I initiated contact by introducing Dinamo and asking whether we could participate in the event. In August 2024, I sent the proposal to exhibit the car; the response came in the final days of October. With no prototype ready for display, the team concentrated work initially estimated at four months into about one month. I worked with the president on administrative coordination, resources, communication and the stand; the technical departments designed and built the vehicle.

A collective achievement.

Together, we exhibited our first electric prototype at the São Paulo E-Prix in December 2024, as exhibitors.

The prototype was still under development; its technical construction and the exhibition were collective achievements.

Conversations at the E-Prix

  • Carlos Lee

CEO of Hankook Tire Brasil. The president and I spoke with him and received a barter arrangement including access to the starting grid before the race.

  • Ricardo Takahira

Engineer and one of the pioneers of Electric Formula SAE in Brazil. We spoke for about two hours at the stand.

Behind the scenes

I worked on organizing the stand, communicating with Formula E management and handling event information. I helped coordinate with UFSCar to announce Dinamo's participation. At the event, I spoke with professionals from the FIA and motorsport. The vehicle assembly, completed by the team just before the exhibition, remains a collective achievement of the technical departments.

What I took from this experience.

I learned that an opportunity needs a proposal, resources, clear responsibilities and follow-through. The exhibition brought my sales and administrative experience together in a delivery involving several disciplines.
